Row Booking Process
Row Booking Process – Pending/Successful/Unsuccessful/Cancellation
The simplest way to book a row is to select the ‘book a row’ drop down in the ‘Row Bookings’ section of this website. This will come up with a calendar showing when and what types of row/events are on. Select a row & date and the next page will either advise under the ‘Booking Requests’ section that the event is ‘fully booked’ or ‘send your row booking’. Please make sure that there are sufficient funds in your rough dough wallet if you select a row booking.
If you have submitted a row booking, you will receive an email advising ‘Row Booking Pending’. Closer to the scheduled date and time of the row, you will either receive an email confirming the booking or the booking has been unsuccessful.
Please bear in mind that the coxes do not select on a ‘first come first served basis’. Reasons for not having your booking successful could be one of the reasons below, but not limited to:
- Enabling less frequent rowers the opportunity to go for a row
- This is a set crew row such as race crew training
- The row is over subscribed
- Depending on the type of row and forecast weather/tidal/ sea conditions, the cox needs a specific crew member(s)*.
- Please note a cancellation/ unsuccessful row notification can occur after a booking that’s been approved, especially if conditions, on the judgement of the cox make it unsafe to row.
*For example, ‘Learn to Row’ usually require experienced rowers to accompany new members in training, ‘social rows’ may require more experienced rowers if there is forecast challenging weather/ tidal/ sea state conditions (but not adverse enough to cancel a row)
We do strongly encourage you to book on another row, and this cox will also keep in mind that you were a reserve this time.
