One of two slots on a Friday for competent crew who want to end their week on a high! Aimed at people who would like to improve fitness & technique in the Gig and ultimately row regularly with a group of like-minded people. As ever please come prepared with water and appropriate clothing. For the time being, please complete a negative lateral flow test before attending. Some information on seat allocation for ‘Open Rows’
Generally, rows will be available for booking at least 2 weeks in advance, hopefully giving all members plenty of time to plan and make their booking request.
In line with latest club policy, confirmation (‘approval’) of seats will happen no sooner than 4 days before the row.
This means that for Friday rows I will be aiming to confirm seats on the preceding Tuesday.
Selection for ‘approval’ will occur on the following basis:
1. If the row is not over-subscribed (i.e. 6 booking requests or less) then all pending bookings will be approved.
Any spare seats will be advertised on the WhatsApp ‘Spare Seat’ channel.
2. If the row is over-subscribed approvals will be based on giving priority to members who have the least number of approved rows in the preceding 2 weeks.
In situations where there are no clear ‘winners’ and ‘losers’ when counting preceding rows I’ll use my best judgement to allocate seats to create a balanced and safe boat
